Player Evaluation Day was a huge success. Thanks to the more than 2 dozen volunteers over 200 players were evaluated in 7.5 hours. This is the largest number of players we have evaluated in several years. I want to specifically thank Steve Baker and Danaya Franke for their work leading up to and through yesterday.
After a late night meeting on Sunday night we have determined a few things about the 4 divisions for 2015.
- There will be 5 major league teams. The major league draft will take place on Tuesday evening. Players on major league rosters will be contacted no later than Thursday afternoon.
- There will be 5 Minor A teams. The Minor A draft will be held on Thursday evening. Players on Minor A rosters will be contacted by Sat afternoon.
- There will be at least 7 Minor B teams. The exact number of teams and the team rosters will be finalized by March 31.
- The number of Rookie League teams and the rosters will be determined No later than April 6. We will have a minimum of 5 Rookie teams.
Other Important Notes
- Registration is closed for Major League players. Late registering players ages 10 - 12 will be placed on Minor A teams
- Player registration for three remaining divisions will remain open through mid- April. Late registering players are placed on teams using the rules provided by Little League International.
- Based on previous years, the majority of late registrations are players ages 8 and under. This is why we are not able to confirm the number of Minor B and Rookie teams at this time.
- Each division begins practice on a different week in April. Your team manager will share that information with you.
- Please talk with your player(s) about the changes in the divisions and player age determination, for players 9 and younger, which begin this year. There are significant differences between Gold/Blue (last year) and Minor A, B, & Rookie (this year).
- Players were placed into divisions based on PED scores and previous year input from their manager (if they played in 2014)
Thank you to all of the families and players who participated in PED and who have signed up to play in GVLL for 2015. 2015 is the 60th Anniversary of Little League Baseball in Golden Valley. Our goal is to make it the best year ever. We are off to a great start.
