Umpiring Clinics

GVLL will be hosting two umpiring clinics at Isaacson Field.

All Novice (0 years of experience) umpires are strongly encouraged to join at least one clinic. If you cannot make a clinic, there are some available through the Little League Organization.

The event is open to registration through the Civic Champs app. I strongly recommend all umpires register for the event and “check in” to it. This will serve as practice for both signing up for games and checking in to your games when you arrive at the fields.

The clinics are on April 19th from 2-3PM and April 26th from Noon-1PM.

Civic Champs

For the 2025 season we will be moving away from the Google Sheets method to the Civic Champs Platform. In order to Umpire for the 2025 you need to have:

1. A civic champs account
2. A mobile phone for check-in to games

Yes, this means no more selfies for checking into a game.

In order to register to be an umpire for the 2025 season click this link to begin your registration with Civic Champs. Be extra careful to use a phone that will be available for all games. The mobile phone will be used to check in and confirm your presence.

All information for the umpire intake form is required in order to ensure you are paid and you are given access to the correct schedule.

When Will The 2025 Schedule Be Available?

Game scheduling is still in progress. Keep checking in to this site for more details. Expect more details to emerge in April 2025.

New Umpires

If this is your first year umpiring with Golden Valley Little League (GVLL) we ask that you take a training course prior to umpiring your first game. Keep posted here for details on a GVLL provided training session is scheduled.

We reserve Minor B games for your first games. We ask that Novice umpires not support Minor A games until they have supported at least two Minor B games, and that their first Minor A game be as a Field Umpire.

Payment Information

  • Payment will be issued once a week, at the beginning of the week after the previous week that you worked (usually Mon. or Tues.). This means that for games worked Mon.-Sun, a check will be issued on Mon. or Tues. night of that following week.

  • Checks typically take 5-7 business days to arrive. This means that it is possible you may not receive payment until 2 weeks after the game you supported

  • Please do not be concerned about receiving payment for your work until it has been at least the third Monday after the week of games in question. There is nothing the League can do to speed up the processing of payment.

  • If you do not cash your check within 90 days of it being issued, the check will be voided. If that happens, contact the Treasurer and the Treasurer will reissue you a check.

    • If you lose your check the League will not reissue you a new one until 90 days after it was first issued. It costs the League money to stop payment on a check and reissue it but it does not cost the League a fee if the check is voided after 90 days. Be responsible with your payment. Cash your checks in a timely manner and make sure that your address and phone number are legible on the information that you turn in to the League.
