** 2026 SEASON UPDATE***
Umpiring Clinic Dates have been finalized, see below.
New Umpires: Please read this entire page, it covers everything you need to know to get set up for this season.
We will be using Civic Champs again for the 2026 season- if you are a new umpire please register using the link below. You must have Civic Champs to register for and check in to the Umpire Training.
Umpiring Clinics
GVLL will be hosting two umpiring clinics at Isaacson Field.
All Novice (0 years of experience) umpires are required to join at least one clinic. If you cannot make a clinic, there are some available through the Little League Organization. Novice umpires must have gone through a training clinic prior to supporting games.
The event is open to registration through the Civic Champs app. I strongly recommend all umpires register for the event and “check in” to it. This will serve as practice for both signing up for games and checking in to your games when you arrive at the fields.
The clinics are on April 12th from 1-2PM and April 26th from 3-4PM at Isaacson Field 1.
Civic Champs
For the 2026 season we will be using Civic Champs again. In order to Umpire for the 2026 season you need to have:
1. A civic champs account
2. A mobile phone for check-in to games
GENERAL INFORMATION ON GAME SIGNUPS
We are now populating the schedule for Minor B and A games. Scheduling will occur through the Civic Champs app this year. Please remember that the phone/account that you use to sign up for games MUST be used for check-in at the fields. Your check-in data is used to confirm that you umpired the game and is necessary for you to get paid. The phone must be by the concession stand to allow you to check in (based on a geofence). If you are supporting a game at Seeman then your phone must be by the shed.
The Schedules are expected to go live sometime the week of April 13th, 2026. I will send a message out stating that the games are ready for registration when they go live.
GAME LIMITS AT SIGNUP
If this is your first season umpiring (Novice year) you will be restricted to Minor B games only. If you have umpired for more than one season you will be restricted to Minor A games during signups. I will eventually open all games to experienced umpires after signups have largely finished in order to ensure all games get coverage.
If a Novice umpire has supported more than two games I will allow you to support Minor A games in the field position only. There are restrictions on how many games a Novice or Experienced Umpire may sign up for during the first 48 hours registration is open. This is to ensure everyone can get games in.
Novice Umpires- you are restricted to signing up for two Minor B games. Further restriction information will be posted here for the 2026 season when it is available.
Experienced Umpires- You are restricted to five Minor A games for the first 48 hours. Further restriction information will be posted here for the 2026 season when it is available.
BOUNTY SYSTEM FOR ENFORCING SIGNUP LIMITS
If you notice an umpire has signed up for more than 2 games for Novices or 5 games for Experienced umpires within the first 48 hours then email me the over-scheduled umpire’s name and all the games they signed up for. As a reward I will grant you your choice of a single game to take from the offending umpire. All of their other slots will be trimmed to bring them down to their maximum to give others a chance to take those games. Bounties are first come first serve- if I get two reports of the same individual I go by whoever contacted me first. The Bounty System ends after the 48 hour sign up period.
Payment Information
- Umpires are paid by years of experience. Novice Umpires are paid $30 per game. For every year of experience an umpire has after their novice year they get a $5 per game raise. Example: Umpires with two years experience are paid $40 per game.
- Payment will be issued once a week, at the beginning of the week after the previous week that you worked (usually Mon. or Tues.). This means that for games worked Mon.-Sun, a check will be issued on Mon. or Tues. night of that following week.
