All-Star Selection Process


GVLL will support three All-Star Teams and one Nine Year Old Tournament Team
● 12 Year Old All-Star Team (eligible for Little League World Series at Williamsport)
● 11 Year Old All-Star Team
● 10 Year Old All-Star Team
● Nine Year Old Tournament Team
The GVLL regular season allows for opportunities for all skill levels, the purpose of the All-Star teams is to
obtain experience in a more competitive atmosphere. The selection process is designed to put the most
competitive teams together in order to compete in Little League sponsored tournaments.
The term coach in this document is defined as the first named assistant coach.

12 Year Old All Star Team
Team will consist of the top 10 players from the all-star ballot and two discretionary spots.

11 Year Old All Star Team
Team will consist of the top 10 players from the 11 year old ballot and two discretionary spots.

10 Year Old All Star Team
Team will consist of the top 10 players from the 10 year old ballot and two discretionary spots.

Nine Year Old Team Tournament Team
This team is not an official all star team as recognized by Little League, although the Executive
Committee is treating the selection of this team in a manner similar to the official all star selection
process. This team will consist of the top 10 players from the nine year old ballot as well as two
discretionary spots.

GVLL All-Star Player Voting Process
There will be three All-Star ballots, one for each age division, 12, 11, and 10 years old. Each ballot will
consist of all eligible players in the Majors division at that specific age. Each Major League team manager,
first named assistant coach and players will complete three separate ballots to identify the top ten
players to represent the GVLL All-Star teams.

12 Year Old All-Star Team
Each Major League manager, coach and all major players will complete a ballot selecting 10 players for
the 12 year old team.In the event that there are not enough 12 year olds in the Majors division available
to participate in the 12 year old All-Star team, 12 year olds from the Minor A division may be promoted
to this team. These players will be identified based on the votes of the Minor A managers and the 1st
name coaches from each team.

11 Year Old All-Star Team
Each Major League manager, coach and all major players will complete a ballot selecting 10 players for
the 11 year old team.In the event that there are not enough 11 year olds in the Majors division available
to participate in the 11 year old All-Star team, 11 year olds from the Minor A division may be promoted
to this team. These players will be identified based on the votes of the Minor A managers and the 1st
name coach from each team.

10 Year Old All-Star Team
Each Major League manager, coach and all major players will complete a ballot selecting 10 players for
the 10 year old team. In the event that there are not enough 10 year olds in the Majors division available
to participate in the 10 year old All-Star team, 10 year olds from the Minor A division may be promoted
to this team. These players will be identified based on the votes of the Minor A managers and the 1st
name coach from each team.

Nine Year Old Post Season Tournament Team
The nine year old ballot will consist of all eligible nine year olds in the Minor A division. Each Minor A
League manager and first named coach will complete a ballot selecting 10 players for the nine year old
team. If there are not enough nine year olds available to participate on the nine year old team, eight
year olds from the Minor A League may be promoted to this team. Any 8 yr old additions will be will be
awarded by the Player Agents and Minor A League director.

Vote Tallying
All-Star Teams
● Each manager has one vote
● Each first named coach has one vote
● All Major league players votes are combined for one vote
● For example: Four Major league teams equals 9 votes
Nine Year Old Tournament Team
● Each managers has one vote
● Each first named coach has one vote
● For example: Five Minor A league teams equals 10 votes

Player Commitment
Each player is expected to be available to play in all scheduled games and attend a majority of the
scheduled practices. If a player can not commit to being present at each of the team’s scheduled games,
it is the Manager’s sole discretion regarding that player’s inclusion on the final roster.
Discretionary Picks

The discretionary spots are in place for a Manager to add two additional players to complete the roster.
The discretionary spots are required to be the same age as the listed team.

Setting the Roster
Each Manager will contact the 10 players selected for the roster to verify they can meet the required
commitment. If any of the 10 players is not able to fulfill the commitment requirements, they may be
excluded from the final team roster. For each player excluded, the Manager will receive the name of the
next highest rated player for the age group. Once a Manager has 10 players who can fulfill the
participation requirements, the Manager will fill the two discretionary roster spots to finalize the roster.
All-Star Manager Eligibility

12 Year Old All Star Team
The manager and coaches shall be regular season team mangers and/or coaches from the Majors
division.

10 and 11 Year Old All Star Team
The manager and coaches shall be regular season team mangers and/or coaches from the Majors or
Minor A division.

Nine Year Old Team Tournament Team
The manager and coaches shall be regular season team mangers and/or coaches from the Majors or
Minor A division.

All-Star Manager and Coach Selection
Managers are selected by the President following an interview process with the Executive Committee.
Coaches are selected by the Executive Committee with input from the manager.

Mid-Season Player Evaluations
Prior to the All-Star Player voting process, each Major and Minor A League manager will complete a
mid-season player evaluation for all players on their teams. This evaluation will only be used to assist
the managers and coaches in the voting process for the All-Star Teams and the Nine Year Old
Tournament Team.

The GVLL Executive Committee will set all dates for ballot distribution and return. Tiebreakers in voting
will be determined by the GVLL Executive Committee. All Little League rules apply and may supersede
any rules in this document.
